Improv 101: It's Time to Play

Maybe you have watched an improv show and thought, "That sure looks like fun!" Or perhaps you are an actor and want to become a better performer. Or maybe you have no interest in being on stage, but want to improve your ability to live in the moment, loosen up, and connect more with other people. Improvisational theater games aren't just for actors or comedians. They are a great way to shake off stress, overcome shyness, heighten your sense of playfulness, and access your natural creativity. The key principle of improv, "yes, and…" has liberating implications for life in general. No matter what your skill level, this class co-sponsored by CFU and Firehouse Theater Company, introduces you to a variety of improvisation games and gives you the chance to play with others. After five weeks of improv fun, class participants will have the chance to show their skills in a low-key show-case for friends and family in the sixth session. There is no pressure to perform.

Class is $124 for a 6-week session, on Sundays 1-3 pm

Directing Classes

A Theatre Director must know the design aspects of the performance and communicate their vision to designers, actors, and crew. In this 8-week course, we will explore the basics of directing for stage (not film, which uses a different skill set). Great for beginners or for experienced directors who want to brush up on their craft. This class meets once a week at Colorado Free University and will include weekly assignments to be completed at home.

Class is $210 for an 8-week session, on Mondays 7-9 pm
